The Journey From Waste to Forest
Phase 1
The Collection
Following the El-Niño flooding crisis, the community found itself buried in waste paper. ConneQt rallied volunteers to gather 2.7 tons of waste paper from our local network.
Phase 2
Turning Paper Into Funding
We sold the collected paper, earning KSh 60K. Crucially, 100% of the proceeds were allocated to the tree planting activity — fully self-funded, no external capital.
Phase 3
Planting In Kajiado
With the funds secured, we headed to Kajiado to plant trees — restoring the land, sequestering carbon, and modeling a self-sustaining community model others can replicate.

💡 Why It Matters
This event proved a powerful thesis: communities already have the resources they need to create change. The El-Niño floods left waste behind, but they also left an opportunity. By turning waste into wealth into woodland, ConneQt showed that impactful, dignified climate action doesn't require deep pockets — it requires connection, coordination, and a little optimism.
